Earlier this week, ground was broken and footers poured for our new home. As I noted in the introduction to our new builder last week, things have moved quickly. We continue to be impressed with the Bedrock Builders team, and we love the look of our new neighborhood and lot. We feel very fortunate that we haven’t had to sacrifice anything because of the situation we went through; quite the opposite.

Hansen and Horn
As far as what’s happening with Hansen and Horn (which I continue to receive questions about from many of you), I have not heard anything beyond the well-reported news that a receiver has been appointed for a term of 45 days. I do know that almost all of the people I ever had any contact with at Hansen and Horn are no longer with the company. I feel for them, because everyone I had direct dealings with were by and large wonderful people.

I don’t know what they’re planning on doing with the homes that are in progress, but I hope they find someone to finish them promptly and find a good builder to finish out Chapel Woods and all the other neighborhoods, for the sake of all the current residents in those developments. I have heard through the grapevine that the developer who owns the Chapel Woods land (not Hansen and Horn) is willing to sell lots to other semi-custom builders, so there may be some other activity in there soon. We always thought Chapel Woods was one of the nicest developments in that price range because of the visual diversity of the homes (especially compared to most Pulte or Estridge neighborhoods, for example), so bringing in other builders should only help accentuate that eclectic look.
