The First House Design

This house is no longer being built by us. We walked away after the builder became insolvent and stopped doing any work. We have designed a different house with a custom builder. This page is archived for historical purposes.

We’re building a semi-custom 4 bedroom house in Noblesville, IN. Groundbreaking was on August 31, 2009, and expected completion is the end of November. Our builder is Hansen and Horn; you can read more about how we picked Hansen and Horn over all the other builders in our area. Below you’ll find floor plans and specifications.

Floor plans & elevation

We started with one of the builder’s plans, and then spent several weeks customizing and rearranging. We added the main floor office, increased the size of the kitchen, moved the downstairs half bathroom, moved the stairs, rearranged bedrooms, moved the upstairs bath and laundry room, and enlarged the master bath and closet. This was a brand new plan to begin with, so we would have been the first people to build it, but now it’s so customized that it’s unlikely this floor plan will ever be built again.

How we chose our builder, Hansen and Horn | Build a House Blog says:

[...] their draftsman Aaron to customize the floor plan we chose. We started with the Jackson and changed quite a bit of it — we reversed it, added office space and a larger kitchen in place of the tandem garage [...]
